Manmohan’s address and Modi’s Mumbai “No balls” both disappointing

When India was fighting with the external forces in Mumbai, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was at the ground zero in front of cameras where he termed the Prime Minister’s post terror attack statement disappointing. PM’s statement could be disappointing but when our house was attacked, could not we stop for a while to indulge into a verbal fight within the house?

If the Prime Minister’s statement was disappointing, Narendra Modi’s statement too was disappointing considering the place and the time he choose to deliver the statement. Modi was standing near Oberoi hotel in which our security forces were flushing out the armed terrorists at the same time some metres away.

First of all I can’t understand that for a political leader, what was the need to go to such place where an anti-terrorist operation was being carried out? Was there any valid point to go there? I remember that when Akshardham in Gandhinagar happened, Narendra Modi was in his house for the whole night just some metres away when just across the road anti-terrorist operation was being carried out in Akshardham campus. Modi only visited the Akshardham temple after the anti-terrorist operation was completed by NSG commando led by Mr.Rajsithapati next morning.

So what happened this time to Modiji? Even after Maharashtra CM requested him on phone to postpone the visit till anti-terror operations were on in the city, Modi jumped in the terror attacked city next morning via special plane when the anti-terror operations were still on.

More shocking was Modi’s request to have a car-drive inside the Oberoi when NSG operation was on. Modi himself told media about this. Terror attacked places are for political tourism? Not a good idea.

Modi briefed the media that he had arrived up to the hotel to back the security forces on duty. I wonder, who cares if some political leader comes and speaks few words at the time when hand grenades and firings are rampant and frequent?

No other Chief Minister visited the Oberoi or Taj. From BJP, LK Advani had already visited Mumbai. So for what purpose Narendra Modi came in? To make his point to the national media present there ? Or for renewal of his image as an anti-terror mascot in the country?

If in Delhi and Mumbai, Modi’s political visit at the time of the terror attacks is in discussion, in Hindu land Gujarat more discussed topic is Narendra Modi’s visit to Hemant Karkare’s house. Hemant Karkare was Maharashtra’s Anti Terrorist Squad chief. He was killed in a gun fight with terrorists on Wednesday night.

While the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his address to the nation after Mumbai attack mentioned only Hemant Karkare’s name, Bharatiya Janata Party in it’s statement on Mumbai terror attack decided not to mention Hemant Karkare’s name. Karkare was handling Sadhvi Pragnya’s case. He was instrumental behind Sadhvi and Army officers arrests and alleged unfair torture. Modi had publicly opposed Maharashtra ATS for arrests of Army officials in Malegaon blast case at every recent political campaign rally. BJP had alleged that Karkare’s ATS was working under orders of it’s political masters.

But contradicting the BJP’s stand, Modi out and out visited Karkare’s house and even announced Rs.1 crore for him and other policemen who died in terror attacks. Why did Mr.Modi visited Karkare’s house?

Modi’s Mumbai visit and especially his visit to Oberoi and Karkare’s house was good bowler’s ‘no ball’. People expect much from Modi and Manmohan Singh and if Manmohan Singh disappoints us every time Modi too disappointed us at least for this time.
