Gujarat to have special courts for anti-corruption cases

According to sources, the Government of Gujarat has decided to start two special courts headed by special judge(additional district judge) in Ahmedabad and Surat by June-July for cases related to the Prevention of Corruption Act (1988). The specials courts will be set up, one each at Ahmedabad and Surat.

Initially, the principal judges of the district courts will deal with the corruption cases and later the special judges will be appointed, the process of which is going on.

Presently, total 1,128 corruption related cases are pending in Gujarat’s various sessions courts of which 91 are pending in Ahmedabad, 136 in Surat, 127 in Rajkot, 98 in Junagadh, 78 in Jamnagar and 66 in Surendranagar.
