Tapi river front will have festival ground, ponk nagar and much more

First phase construction of Tapi river front project will cover about 54.45 Hector land and take place over 2.75 km long stretch of the river in Gujarat’s second largest and India’s fastest developing city Surat.
Rs. 44 crore project will include a festival ground, food plaza, mega parking area for 2200 four wheeler, and 3000 two wheelers, walk way with green belt, bicycle track, a big garden, mini floral park, ponk nagar, ecological park, and a memorial park presenting the story of Surat’s legends.
About 7800 people living in Tapi river slums of Bapunagar, Naherunagar, Subhashnagar, JP nagar, Jalaram nagar, Iqbal nagar etc will be relocated to new houses built by the Surat Municipal Corporation. State’s Road and Building and irrigation departments will transfer their about 1 lakh square meter land to Surat Municipal Corporation on token rate.
