Modi visits Puttaparthi to pay last respects to Sathya Sai Baba

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today visited the Prasanthi Nilayam ashram at Puttaparthi to pay his last respect to Sathya Sai Baba. Modi sat opposite the body of Sathya Sai Baba at around 11.00 in the morning and bowed down.

Earlier, Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi had expressed deep grief over the passing away of Satya Saibaba and paid homage.

In his condolence message Chief Minister said that Satya Saibaba successfully attracted the people over the world towards the Indian culture and carried ahead the spiritual tradition of Shakti and Bhakti. Although Satya Saibaba was a spiritual leader, he worked greatly in providing people the basic amenities like education, health and water. His death is an irreparable loss of a spiritual leader who devoted his life for spirituality and welfare of the people.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi are arriving at Puttaparthi on Tuesday evening. Senior BJP leader LK Advani and Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s brother are among other important leaders who are coming to Puttaparthi on Tuesday.

Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan and chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy are flying to Puttaparthi on Tuesday to receive Singh and Sonia Gandhi and will return to the state capital after the completion of last rites.
