Chief Minister Narendra Modi announced to arrange a special online quiz competition on the life and works of Swami Vivekananda to mark his 150th birth anniversary in 2012. Chief Minister announced this on the final round of Gujarat Quiz Competition for the students of school and colleges of all over Gujarat, held today at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.

Participating students had the Chief Minister playing the role of quiz master on the occasion. Chief Minister asked seven questions each in the competitions at six different levels and distributed prizes and trophy to 12 winners that comprised Rupees one lakh to the first winner and Rupees fifty thousand to the second winner.

Chief Minister also announced arranging various quiz competitions to mark the next Republic Day. The quiz will be based mainly on three themes that is – the life and works of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar, peculiarities of Indian constitution and duties of the citizens.

Chief Minister said that Gujarat Quiz is serving as a means for all those who want to get authentic information about Gujarat. “Moreover, with this quiz, people get knowledge in a fun way, which is much more satisfying than general knowledge exercises”, he said asking people to add in more questions and correct answers to the 5000-odd question bank of Gujarat Quiz.

With the mechanism of Gujarat Quiz Competition the State Government intends to push the habit of knowledge acquiring among people of the state particularly youths. First phase of the competition was held on school and college level where 27,80,487 students participated. Subsequently, the competition was held on taluka and district levels. Government has launched a special website www.gujaratquiz.in where more than one lakh people have played the competition by now.

Principal Secretary for Education Hasmukh Adhiya, on the occasion, called upon people to take the online quiz and test their own knowledge about Gujarat.

Education Minister Ramanlal Vora, Minister of State for Education Jaysinhji Chauhan, Smt.Vasuben Trivedi, senior level Secretaries, government officials, students and their parents coming from all over Gujarat were present on the occasion.
