Ahmedabad, 17 May, 2011
A delegation of Gujarat Congress MPs and MLAs will meet central Textile minister Dayanidhi Maran on Thursday in New Delhi.
“We are going to meet Dayanidhi Maran for the cotton farmers of Gujarat. The meeting will be held between 12.00 noon and 2.00 pm in New Delhi,” Congress MP Viththal Radadiya told DeshGujarat.
Radadiya further said, “earlier last week I had visited Shri Ahmed Patel in New Delhi with a small delegation.During our visit Shri Ahmedbhai talked with minister Maran on phone and fixed our meeting.”
“We want government to lift the ban on Cotton export, so that farmers can get good prices. Also we want to ask the minister that there should be some consistent and clear policy on Cotton export. That is because when farmers sowed Cotton, there was no restriction on export, but when crop is ready for market, there’s ban on export,” Radadiya added.
