Havoc in Naroda after CISF jawan opens fire causing injury to six

It was talk of the town incident in Ahmedabad late in the night on Tuesday when a drunk or mentally disturbed(real reason yet not confirmed) CISF jawan Balwindar Singh started open fire from the top of one building in Naroda area. According to initial report, six persons were injured in this incident and all of them were taken to nearby Rudraksh hospital. One Ekta Vyas(28) suffered bullet injury in stomach. Her situation was critical and she was taken to Apollo hospital for further treatment. Another lady Urvashiben was also injured while one 7-year-old child Dhruv also had injury, but due to stampede.

CISF jawan started firing from his weapon at around 10.30 pm near old Naroda police station. Jawan targeted several common people and also a bus.

According to eye witness Dhaval Patel CISF jawan had big weapon similar to AK-47. “He was standing on the first floor balcony. He was also spotted talking on mobile phone while holding weapon in his hand. He could have fired about 30 rounds. The whole incident continued for about one and half hour.”

Police prevented people to go near the place of incident. Huge crowds of people could be seen all over in the area at around 11.00 pm. According to fresh detail arriving, CISF jawan has been caught and arrested at around 11.40 pm. As per the primary investigation, Singh had demanded leave which was not granted, thereby he committed such act in frustration.

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Shri Amitabh Pathak clarified that this was not terror incident. It should be mentioned here that Gujarat is put on alert by central intelligence input.
