Digital technology Leader, Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Ltd today signed an MOU with India’s most reputed management institute, IIM, Ahmedabad to roll out a Scholarship program for management students. Under the ‘Samsung Scholarship program’, five meritorious students from the first year batch of the management course will be selected to avail the Samsung scholarship which will be used to fund the second year of their course at the Institute. Additionally, the selected students will get an opportunity to engage and interact with the Samsung senior management to facilitate better understanding and greater knowledge sharing.

The MOU was signed between Mr. J S Shin, CEO & President, Samsung South-West Asia and Mr Samir Barua ,Director,IIMA at the IIMA campus in the presence of other members from the institute and prominent dignitaries.

To participate in the ‘Samsung Scholarship Program’, students from the IIMA are required to submit their candidature to the institute. The expert jury comprising of IIMA faculty and Samsung leadership will choose the candidates who will be awarded the Samsung Scholarships. The five meritorious students out of the shortlisted candidates will be mapped and chosen on three parameters – First year’s score, leadership skills and conceptual and interpersonal skills.

Elaborating on the MOU, J S Shin, President & CEO, Samsung South West Asia said, “Human capital is the backbone for the growth and development of any economy or industry across the world. Our Scholarship Program here at the IIMA , seeks to grow beyond providing financial support to the students to encompass a healthy industry-academia partnership and engagement .As part of this program , we would like to give these students a healthy exposure to our Company and our industry, so that we can contribute to the holistic development of these students .”

Speaking about Samsung Scholarship Initiative, Professor Samir K Barua , Director, IIM Ahmedabad stated , “ Such partnerships will contribute in our large efforts to engage meaningfully with the industry and enhance opportunities for students to connect with the real world. The Samsung merit scholarships would also motivate students to excel academically.”
