Major maintenance work of Ahmedabad airport runway completed before time
Ahmedabad, 11 June, 2011
Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel international(SVPI) airport has completed major maintenance work of its runway before time.
Director of SVPI Shri Anuj Aggarwal today officially declared that the major runway repair work which was to finish on 15 June as per the schedule, has been completed today on 10 June itself.
“Runway has been made available for all flight operations with effect from today i.e. Jun 10, 2011, and all the airlines have been informed so that they can resume their normal operations,” Aggarwal said.
It should be mentioned that Airlines were told early this year that runway would not be available from 15 May for a month time between 10:30 am to 5:00 pm due to major maintenance work which was extremely necessary. As per this directive, about half a dozen domestic airlines had rescheduled their flights to morning and evening time.
Ahmedabad airport takes halt every day for one hour in the morning and two hours on Sunday to facilitate daily maintenance. This schedule will continue to be in effect according to airport officials.
