Auction of gifts received by Narendra Modi fetches Rs. 2.04 crore

The much-awaited auction of the gifts received by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has fetched a sum of Rs. 2.04 crore. The auction was organized during January 27 to 29, at Ravishankar Rawal Kala Bhawan in Ahmedabad.

Mr. Modi has made it a practice to deposit the gifts received by him to the government toshakhana. These gifts are then auctioned and the proceeds go to a special fund called Kanya Kelavani Nidhi and used for the girl child education in the state. In total, 1399 of such gifts, with the upset price of Rs.41.60 lakh, were auctioned this time.

The auction received a great response from the people. The highest sum fetcher was a photo of the Chief Minister at the premises of Mahatma Mandir which received Rs.2,51,000 with the upset price of Rs.41,000.

The auction was inaugurated by Ahmedabad Mayor in the presence of the Collector.
