In a high-level review meet held today concerning Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana (VKY) Chief Minister Narendra Modi expressed desire to implement the scheme in a more fruitful manner. The meet headed by the Chief Minister was also participated by Forest and Environment Minister Mangubhai Patel, Minister of State for Forest Jaswantsinh Bhabhor, Parliamentary Secretary Harshad Vasava, MP Kanaji Patel and MLAs.

Chief Minister said that by convergence of various schemes of different departments the state government has got great results in the tribal belt of Ambaji to Umargam. The Rs.15,000-cr Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana has increased the level of self-confidence and boosted the spirit of development among the adivasi people.

With regard to the unprecedented success of VKY Mr. Modi said the progress of tribal belts has leapfrogged in past five years compare to the past forty years. VKY should now be implemented as a ‘next generation VKY’ in a well-thought-of and more fruitful manner. The scheme will prove as a model for tribal development in entire country.

The state government desires to provide medical education under ‘public private partnership’ and will focus on eliminating problems of tribals by making maximum use of technology, he said.

Chief Minister also gave suggestions on adopting new approaches suitable for the sakhimadalas in tribal areas, doing research regarding the syllabus and the language of education for the children in tribal belts and on broadening the base of technical education in tribal areas.
