Narendra Modi, Vajubhai Vala’s take on Gujarat budget 2012-13(Video)

Gandhinagar, 24 February, 2012

Reacting on Gujarat budget 2012-13 Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi in a talk said that the budget shows details of the path of achieving inclusive growth.

“This budget shows that the state is heading to which direction. In last fifty years the size of planning was Rs 2,30,000 crore , while only in last five year the size was Rs 2,50,000 crore. Even a common person can understand theis leap jump of the state in the direction of development,” said Shri Modi.

Shri Modi further said that figure wise, and economic soundness wise this budget is very ambitious and on the top, but an important point to be noted in this budget is that these days a word ‘inclusive growth’ is being used frequently, but then what should be the direction to achieve inclusive growth? How a budget should be to achieve inclusive growth? That is what becomes clear in this budget.”

Detail note:

Chief Minister Narendra Modi today described theGujarat’s highest-ever annual budget of Rs.50,599-crore for financial year 2012-13 as ambitious and farsighted for ‘inclusive growth’ of the state.

Commenting on the budget proposals presented in the State Legislature Assembly here, he said thatGujarathas over the last ten years attained greater prosperity and equitable development through fiscal discipline and management, coupled with optimum utilization of monetary, natural and human resources.

While the first five years of the previous decade were required to even out the previous deficits and the following five years to lay the foundation of a strongGujarat, he exuded confidence that the next decade would be even more glorious for the state, befitting the 21st Century.

Mr. Modi said that this budget has several welfare projects for every family, be it in rural or urban area, in forest or coastal regions. There is some project for all, be they poor, backward, have-nots, youth, labour, young or old, children or women, trader or entrepreneur, providing everybody an opportunity to take part in the state’s development.

The Chief Minister said that it is for the first time that ‘Mukhya Mantri Amritam’ project has been announced in the budget for providing up to Rs.2-lakh assistance for treatment of serious illness of people living below poverty line.

He said that relief of Rs.410-crore has been announced in the budget proposal for the benefit of common men.

Mr. Modi said the steps initiated by the state government in the past and present would make the state economically stronger, prosperous and competitive.

He said that the state’s extra-ordinary achievement in the field of agriculture has been made possible because of the government’s pro-agriculture policies. It should lead to all round development of the villages through a slew of incentives extended to the farmers with a view to bringing about a qualitative change in rural life. The budget announces a number of schemes to involve greater participation of youth and women power in the state’s development.

Even as the 12th Five Year Plan also begins with the coming financial year 2012-13, Mr. Modi said that a whopping Rs.2.51-lakh-crore proposed to be spent in theGujaratduring the next five years would be larger than Rs.2.30-lakh-crore estimated to have been spent during the previous eleven Five Year Plans put together.

He exuded confidence that Gujarat Government’s policy of ‘Sauno Sath; Sauno Vikas’, meaning ‘Inclusive Growth through Collective Efforts’ would held this budget fulfilling the aspirations of common man.
