Mayor of Vadodara Jyotiben Pandya today launched a website www.gaekwadsofbaroda.com on occasion of 150th birth anniversary year of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III.
There are various interesting sections on the website like family tree, timeline of history of Baroda, Royal glimpses in pictures, establishments and details of celebrations of 150th birth anniversary year.
Three books; The Prince and the Man, The Rulers of Baroda and The Ruler of Baroda are available for download on the site.
One interesting feature on this website is anthem of erstwhile Baroda state.
Generally people believe that Baroda state was limited to the boundary of present Vadodara city and surrounding area. But the fact is that large area of north Gujarat, and some areas of southern, western Saurashtra were part of the Baroda state ruled by Gaekwads.
It should be mentioned here that on 11th of March, Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi will flagg off “Sayaji Sawari” in Vadodara, a rally starting from Navlakhi ground with 2 elephants, 10 horse carriages and 2 floats on 40 ft long trailers. The members of Gaekwad and Sardar families will participate in this procession. On the same day, a bust of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III will be unveiled at Federation of Gujarat Industries (FGI) at Sevasi.
Also a food carnival and garba programme of Shri Atul Purohit have been organized on 24th and 25th of March. “Sayaji Sawari” – The Rally is to be flagged off by Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Narendra Modi from Navlakhi Ground,Various Organizations will be participating. 2 Elephants, 10 horse carriages and 2 Floats on 40 Ft Long Trailers are to occupy by the members of Gaekwad and Sardar Families.
