A Hindu girl Puja Darji converted to become Muslim and changed her name as Sanjari to wed her Muslim lover committed suicide within one month of her married life on Tuesday evening in Rajkot.

Puja Darji was working in Tata company’s show room in Rajkot where she met a co-worker Imran Masani. Puja was engaged with NRI youth settled abroad, however, she jumped the engagement and married Imran through Islamic Nikah ceremony. To make happy Imran’s parents she converted and changed her name.

Puja’s family decided to tie Puja’s younger sister to NRI youth who was earlier going to marry Puja.

Within one month her marriage with Imran, Puja started calling her home complaining that she was being compelled to eat non-veg. Over a phone call she told her mother that she should be taken back to her home. However, Puja’s mother refused to do so immediately due to wedding of younger sister Aarti. Puja’s mother told Puja to wait for a month or so.

Puja complained that she was harassed by her mother-in-law as she was Hindu.She also complained that she had shifted to a hotel with her husband due to harassment of her mother-in-law.

Two days back Puja consumed poison and committed suicide in a garden.

Puja’s father has filed complaint against Puja’s husband and mother-in-law. Police is investigating the case.
