Speaking at the function to mark Mahavir Jayanti in Rajkot today Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi challenged the Congress headed UPA in centre to pass Gujarat style law to protect cows in all over the country.
“I openly challenge those who are driving a movement of fooling the people in the name of cows and grazing land, that if they have genuine feeling for cows, then their government in Delhi should bring a law to protect cows in entire country,” Shri Modi said.
They should know that Gujarat has produced the highest milk in entire India during last decade. This would not have happened without enough availability of the pasture land, he said.
Mr. Modi said the Centre’s policies are ironic in this matter. At one hand the Centre imposes ban on cotton export while on the other hand it gives subsidy to the export of mutton. Jain people should come together and create there influence against the crooked policies of the Central government, he said.
There is a world-wide awareness for the organic food nowadays. This is the time to make popular the Jain food festival, which will also push the mantra of ahinsa, Chief Minister said. He also called upon the Jain community to come up with a movement to promote vegetarianism in the world.
