Father of White Revolution Dr. Verghese Kurien passes away

The father of India’s ‘White Revolution’ Dr Verghese Kurien(90) passed away at around 1.50 am on Sunday at Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital in Nadiad town due to age-related problems. He is survived by wife and daughter.
Dr Kurien, who took India from being a milk-deficient country to the world’s largest milk producer, is recognized as the father of White Revolution and the man who started ’Operation Flood’, besides making the Amul dairy brand a household name.
Dr Kurien’s 90th birthday was celebrated in a big way at his residence in Anand by the GCMMF on November 26 last year.
In his condolence message, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi said, “My heartfelt tribute on sad demise of Dr. Verghese Kurien. His pioneering work gave the milk revolution, transformed India & touched us all. May his soul rest in peace.”
