Ahmedabad, 29 November 2012

There are some seats where BJP is facing micro revolts.

Kheda district panchayat president Rakesh Rav has resigned from BJP after second-time denial of ticket. He has now announced to join Gujarat Parivartan Party to contest Matar seat.

In Kapadvanj, a group of local BJP workers are opposing party’s decision to field Kanubhai Dabhi instead of former MLA Bimal Shah(who lost last time). Bimal Shah’s supporters have given bandh call in Kapadvanj which has received mix response.

In Daskroi seat, Premjibhai who is local unit chief of BJP resigned protesting against party’s decision to renew candidature of sitting MLA Babubhai Patel.

In Savli, local district panchayat member Ketan Inamdar invited his supporters to his house and announced that he would file nomination as independent candidate.

In Vaghodia, one Ghanshyam Patel(Ankodia) has opposed the selection of sitting MP Madhu Shrivastav as party candidate. Ankodia said he would file nomination against Shrivastav. He clarified he was not against party, but against the selection of Shrivastav.

In Bhuj, former MLA Mukesh Zaveri’s supporters rushed to the party office to protest a decision on ticket allotment.

There are reports of mass resignations against party’s decision in Pavi Jetpur. Unhappy with party’s decision on ticket allotment in Bechraji seat, Mehsana district panchayat’s deputy chief may contest from Bechraji as rebel candidate.

In Deesa, the Mali community is meeting against party’s decision to field Liladhar Vaghela.

It is to be mentioned that Gujarat BJP’s SC morcha chief Jivraj Chauhan has resigned from his post against the decision of party to give ticket to a novice on a reserved seat of Vadodara where Chauhan was one of the contenders for party ticket.

Wherever damage is smelled, partymen will go and try their best to resolve the problem in fire fighting mode, before the last date of withdrawal of nominations.

In the first phase list, the BJP experienced two major revolts. Sitting MLA of Savarkundla Kalubhai Virani filed nomination as independent candidate after being dropped. The party workers are most vocal against the selection of Sangeeta Patil as candidate in Limbayat in Surat. City unit BJP General Secretary and others were held by police for torching Sangeeta Patil in effigy early this week.

There are many other assembly segments where many prominent ticket seekers are unhappy with party’s decisions.
