Here are quick highlights from Rahul Gandhi’s Jamnagar speech on Tuesday.

Rahul remembered an incident of Mahatma Gandhi when he slept on floor and allowed Motilal Nehru to sleep on bed, because Motilal was worried about Jawaharlal who was in jail where he was sleeping on floor.

Rahul said Mahatma Gandhi is his Guru in politics. He said, “Brazil President came to Delhi. I was talking to him. I asked when he thinks about politics, what are the rules he follows? He said Gandhiji. When I think about politics, I think about Gandhiji. Then there’s Nelson Mandela. He said when he fought, Gandhiji’s power was with him. And there are lakhs of leaders like this and I am one of them who follows Gandhiji’s path.”

Rahul said Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology is Gujarat’s ideology.

Rahul said Gandhiji’s thought is Gujarat’s gift to the world. He said Congress worked to give voice to the people. He gave an examples of Computer, mobile phones and others. He credited Rajiv Gandhi and Sam Pitroda for bringing computers and mobile phones in India.

Rahul said there’s good marketing, Gujarat is shinning, but how much water people in Jamnagar get? Once in three days for 25 minutes. Rahul said there are one million unemployed youths in Gujarat. He said there is no Lokayukta in Gujarat, the assembly runs for only 25 days a year and even when the assembly is functioning opposition is thrown out. There are 14000 RTI applications pending in Gujarat, because people’s voice is not being heard. Only one voice is being heard in Gujarat.

Rahul said, one person can’t run Gujarat. Gujarat has to be run by people of Gujarat. A common man will run Gujarat. The children who go to school to study are future. They shall run Gujarat.
