Gujarat Congress has not used picture of any of its party leaders in its Gujarat election campaign advertisements this time. The party roped in one small time actress Tulika, and used her in party’s TV and print advertisements.
Just a day before the final phase of polling, Gujarat Congress today presented its poll time ‘Brand ambassador’ Tulika Patel before the media in a quickly called press conference in Ahmedabad.
During the press conference, Tulika was constantly guided by Congress men sitting next to her on what answers she should deliver. Her replies were just token.
An actor and the face of Gujarat Congress during the election campaign Tulika surprisingly said that she was doing the Congress campaign for free. She said she would continue to believe in Congress till the end of her life.
When she was asked a question on leadership issue in Gujarat Congress, partymen took hold of the mic said that Congress had many capable leaders. The press meet was announced over later on.
BJP has criticized Congress on using the brand ambassador to win the elections.
Modi in his speeches said, “It is for the first time that in election campaign, Congress is not using the picture of Nehru, Indira, Rajiv, Sonia, Rahul. This shows that these leaders wouldn’t work in Gujarat.”
Another BJP leader Shri Arun Jaitley has time and again said that there can be a brand ambassador for selling soap and shampoo, but here is a major political party that uses brand ambassador to carry its message to the voters.
Actor Paresh Rawal had recently said in his speech, ” This Tulika who seeks vote for Congress has in her interview to Chitralekha magazine openly said that she works for Congress party because of money, otherwise her family vote for BJP only.”
