Ashok Kumar Tiwari is new Divisional Railway Manager, Ahmedabad

Shri Alok Kumar Tiwari has taken over the charge of Divisional Railway Manager of Ahmedabad Division, Westeran Railway on 9 January 2013. Prior to this new assignment Shri Tiwari was working as Chief Motive Power Engineer(Diesel) at Central Railway, CST Mumbai. During that tenure by putting special efforts, Shri Tiwari started shuttle train services between Matheran to Amn Lodge with the aim to provide additional facilities to the passengers and tourists which was made available for the first time in the Railway’s history of 105 years. That service was provided during the monsoon season too.
Shri Tiwari started his career in 1978 batch of Special Class Railway Apprentice in Indian Railway Service of Amechanical Engineering. He was first posted as Assistant Mechanical Engineer at Western Railway’s Diesel Shed, Ratlam.
Soft-Spoken and dedicated to his work, Shri Tiwari has worked with different important posts in Western Railway, Central Railway, Railway Coach Factory – Kapurthala and at IRMI Jamalpur, which included as Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer at Railway Coach Factory, Kapurthala as Additional Divisional Railway Manager at Mumbai Divisional of Central Railway and as Chief Works Manager at Central Railway’s Workshop.
During his tenure at Rail Coach Factory, Shri Tiwari introduced High Quality System for new coaches. While working at Abu Road he contributed significantly in the project of gauge conversion from meter-gauge to broad-gauge in Mehsana-Ajmer section which links Ahmedabad to New Delhi. To provide assistance to the affected people during the flood situation at Mumbai, he was instrumental to start rail traffic by putting engines on the both sides of the coaches and as Chief Works Manager he made arrangements to accomplish the work of providing cushions on general coaches before the scheduled time. During his tenure at Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, he visited Italy for two weeks for special training in Cut to Length line. Shri Tiwari is colonel in Territorial Army as commanding officer and commands 1105 Railway Engineers Regiment(TA).
Shri Tiwari has special interest in outdoor games including billiards, snookers and bridge. After taking over the charge as Divisional Railway Manager he will give top priority to Rail safety, security, facility to passengers, arrangements for cleanliness and to increase the income of the division.
