EU technical textile firms keen to partner with Gujarat

Four technical textile firms from the European nation were in Ahmedabad on Thursday to express interest to connect to Gujarat’s technical textiles industry. The German companies such as Eurotextiles GmbH & Co. KG, Nextrusion GmbH, SR Webatex GmbH, Ploucquet GmbH showed interest for partnership with textile industries in Gujarat in the areas of technology sharing and mutual growth, The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) said. The German delegation’s visit was organised by ASSOCHAM alongwith WB Management Consultant and commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), with AHP International GmbH & Co. KG.

ASSOCHAM indicates that Gujarat is emerging as a technical textiles hub in India. The state contributes near Rs 200 billion or around 25% to the Rs 750 billion Indian technical textiles sector. Gujarat is the largest cotton producing state and accounts for 30% of woven fabric and 25% of decentralised power loom sector of the country. The technical textile industry has grown from Rs 50,000 cr. in 2010-11 to Rs 75,000 cr. in 2011-12, and is further expected to grow to over Rs 1 lakh cr. due to huge growth in auto and other related sectors.
