-Ishrat encounter case: PP Pandey’s plea will be heard now by Justice HN Devani. This after Judge Brahmbhatt refused to hear the case.

-Former Union minister of BJP smt Bhavnaben Chikhalia suffered massive heart attack today. She is being treated at Ahmedabad’s HCG hospital.

-Part of Rs. 105 crore bridge under construction collapsed today morning near Rupen port in Jamnagar district. A newly wed couple buried under rubble in this incident and found dead, while a tanker has been stuck at the site. Local police, Mamlatdar etc reached the spot.According to an official, prima facie the mishap occurred as the land supporting the foundation of the bridge washed away due to inflow of rain water in the creek. Work on the bridge was 60 per cent complete when it crumbled.The bridge was being constructed as part of the State Highway Development Project (SHDP).

-Gujarat BJP incharge Om Mathur today arrived at Ahmedabad for the first time after his appointment. Party workers welcomed him at Ahmedabad airport. Shri Mathur went directly to Gandhinagar. Mathur was Gujarat BJP incharge in past too. Later he was replaced by Shri Balbir Punj.

-Around 125 farmers of Vadal village of Junagadh district protesting against survey work of proposed Jetpur-Somnath four track highway work were detained by police today morning. Some force had to be used to control the farmers who were preventing the National Highway Authority of India(NHAI) survey work. Some farmers even damaged survey tools. Farmers are protesting acquisition of 1800 bigha land in two talukas of Junagadh district for last three years.

-As many as 30,925 people have applied for 404 posts of clerk job in Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC). 212 have applied for one post of Chief Accountant. 1642 have applied for 3 posts of Computer supervisor. In total 42,543 applications are received for 648 seats.

-Pujya Bhaishri Ramesh Oza has announced Rs. 11 lakh donation for Uttarakhand calamity-victims.

-Gujarat Congress is holding a social media meeting of party workers/followers at state headquarter in Ahmedabad. Party’s trimurti leaders Vaghela, Modhwadia and Gohil are going to attend the programme.

-Leader of opposition in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Shri Baduddin Sheikh today criticized the state government for charging toll tax from those returning from Uttarakhand calamity.

-Addressing the media in Ahmedabad today afternoon, Congress party’s senior leader and national treasurer Shri Motilal Vora said that government’s priority at this time is to rescue the people who are stranded in calamity-hit areas of Uttarakhand. He said the central government is very much concerned about the situation and therefore full force has been employed for this task. He said more than one lakh people are safely rescued.
