Gujarat Congress President Arjun Modhwadia today thanked the Government of India and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar for release of first phase of Rs. 278 crore for crop insurance covering 18 talukas of Gujarat.

According to a statement issued by Gujarat Congress, out of Rs. 278 crore claims approved, Rs. 170 crore sum has been released while rest of the money will be released on Monday.

Shri Modhwadia said other talukas too will get crop insurance in next couple of weeks.He claimed the state government sent details of crops too late, and therefore was responsible for delayed release of crop insurance money by centre.
