Asaram Bapu to stay in police custody till 22 October

The Gujarat Police today sought further ten days remand of Asaram Bapu. The court in its order granted further remands till 22 October. Thus Asaram Bapu whose five days remands ended today will continue to be in police custody till 22 October. Asaram Bapu and his lawyer who were present today in Gandhinagar court didn’t oppose the plea of further remand but opposed the ground of remands. Asaram’s lawyer Mr. Gupta said Asaram told him that he was innocent and ready to face further remands. He further said that when even Kasab could be provided chicken biryani, Asaram Bapu is saint and he should get Ayurvedic treatment.

During the police remands, Asaram Bapu is being kept at the Anti Terrorist Squad(ATS) headquarters in Gandhinagar. Yesterday a large group of Asaram supporters gathered for a glimpse of Asaram Bapu, however police removed them from outside the ATS office. Asaram’s wife and daughter today visited Chandkheda police station as per the court order. They faced some protest here by a group of anti-Asaram people. Asaram’s son has applied for anticipatory bail. Asaram, his son, wife and daughter are facing rape case field by two sisters from Surat.
