Bumper cotton production in Gujarat this year:SGA

The Saurashtra Ginners Asscoaition(SGA) in its meeting on Saturday expected a bumper crop of cotton in Gujarat.
According to Bharatbhai Wala, president of SGA, Gujarat will see production of 90-92 lakh bales( one bale = 170 kg) and processing of 1.10-1.15 crore bales of cotton this year. Gujarat saw production of 75-80 lakh bales cotton last year.
He said Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra also witnessed good season this year, and therefore the total production nationally will be around 3.70-3.80 crore bales.
The meeting also discussed how to promote Saurashtra’s Shankar-6 brand globally. A decision was taken to focus on good packing and promotion of brand as ‘S-6 Premium Gold’.
A good textile policy of Gujarat government is proving good for ginners of Sautrashtra. New year will witness 150-170 new ginning mills and 35-40 spinning mills. 7-8 spinning mills are already functional now.
