Thai Airways International has stopped operation of its budget airline service on Ahmedabad-Bangkok-Ahmedabad route for indefinite period. Online booking service for Ahmedabad-Bangkok-Ahmedabad flights has been stopped. Thai Smile, a sub-brand of Thai International had launched its Ahmedabad-Bangkok service in March this year for two days a week.

Sources said, the last take-off of Thai Smile happened on 20th November. All operations at Ahmedabad airport were stopped from 22 November.

According to Ahemdabad airport director RK Singh the company has stopped its service for some period due to internal disputes. An intimation latter has been received from company in this regard.

According to sources, low cost ‘Thai Smile’ flights were damaging the business of full service flights of parent company ‘Thai Airways’. It was only this reason due to which the operations of budget option flights had to be stopped.

Passengers traveling between Ahmedabad and Bangkok will now need to pay more for journey via Mumbai. It will also take more time to fly via Mumbai. Local travel operators are hopeful that internal issues within the company(Thai Airways) will sort out soon and service will resume after a period of three months.
