Rajkot civic staff on strike against attack on officer by Congress leader

About 3,000 employees of Rajkot Municipal Corporation(RMC) are on strike today against attack on Deputy Commissioner by Congress party’s city unit chief Jashwant Bhatti and his supporters on Wednesday.
Bhatti and other Congressmen yesterday rushed to Deputy Municipal Commissioner Kotwal’s office when Kotwal was busy in an important meeting on tax issue. Congress men started making representation before Deputy Municipal Commissioner which resulted into heated arguments. Later Congress men started misbehaving with the officer. City unit president Bhatti injured officer’s finger. Officer’s shurt was torn by a leader. Bhatti was accompanied by Congress men Pravin Rathod, Keyur Masrani and few others.
Congress men were opposing demolition of an illegal residential unit. A 35-year-old woman Muskan Ganibhai, owner of the illegal housing unit committed self immolation 15 days after demolition. She has been hospitalized at present.
