Narendra Modi to attend Pandit Birju Maharaj’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi is likely to attend well known Kathak dancer and Padma Vibhushan award winner artist Birju Maharaj’s 75th birth anniversary function in Ahmedabad on 30th December.
The function under the title of ‘Pandit Birju Maharaj Platinum Jubilee Celebration’ will be held at Hutheesing Visual Arts Centre. ‘Anubhuti’, a book containing poetry by Birju Maharaj will be released on this occasion. ‘The great master through my eyes’, a book on Birju Maharaj, written by his student Shaswati Sen will be released by Shri Narendra Modi. Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia will attend the event as the guest of honor. Birju Maharaj’s Ahmedabad based students Madhavi Jhala, Darshini Desai and Shubha Desai will present dance on Birju Maharaj’s work. Birju Maharaj’s paintings will also be exhibited on this occasion.
Kathak workshop by Birju Maharaj will be held in Ahmedabad during 30 December to 2nd January for those who have completed three years training in Kathak.
