IIMA Chaos 2013 kicks off on 26 December, a schedule of events

Ahmedabad, 25 December 2013

The 2013 edition of Chaos – the annual cultural festival organised by the two year post-graduate programme in management students of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) – is all set to be organized from December 26 – 29, 2013. Started in 1996, Chaos has grown in scale and now witnesses a footfall of over fifty thousand each year. The event sees participation from school and university students from over 80 institutes across the country and is India’s largest business school cultural festival.

This year, Chaos is centred around the theme of “Tribute to Indian Cinema” – in celebration of the completion of 100 years of Indian Cinema and will host a string of great performances – ranging from Salim Sulaiman (Bollywood Nite) – known for their music in many Bollywood films including Chak De India, DJ Aqeel (DJ Nite), Ram Sampath, Sona Mohapatra, Hard Kaur, Samantha Edwards & Sonu Kakkar (Coke Studio® Nite), and the progressive rock band Coshish (Rock Nite). Alongside the musical events, Femina Miss India 2014 is set to bring its “Walk To Fame” concept to the city for the first time that will see local talent get an opportunity at India’s most prestigious pageant. A special screening of the movie Goonga Pehelwan – that revolves around the story of the wrestler Virender Singh and his journey from the by-lanes of a village in Haryana to becoming India’s most successful deaf athlete will also be held exclusively as part of Chaos.

The cultural festival will see the famed nationwide inter-IIT and IIM quiz competition Nihilanth come to IIM Ahmedabad. The acclaimed quiz competition involves over 160 participants from across 16 IITs and all 13 IIMs battle it out across 7 sets of quizzes to be crowned the winner. Another one of the big events at Chaos 2013 will be the Great Ahmedabad Race. Based on the TV Show “The Amazing Race”, it will lead participants to different parts of the city in a test of endurance and wits.

There will be ample opportunities for theatre and music lovers to showcase their talents and enjoy unique performances. The flagship music event of Chaos provides an opportunity for top semi-professional bands across the country to battle it out for the coveted Blizzards of Rock title. Xuberance will bring the top dance teams across India together on stage, battling to emerge as the winner of the biggest cultural festival in India. Art transcends all boundaries in search of expression and through its Painting and Photography exhibitions, Chaos will attempt to capture and showcase this elusiveness. In addition to these many on the spot events and workshops related to dance, art and gaming will be held during the four day festival.
