Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi is likely to flag off Surat Night Marathon on Sunday, 23 February. This is the second edition of Surat Marathon organized by Surat Police. Flying Sikh Milkha Singh, famous playback singer Shreya Ghoshal and TV actress Sweta Tiwari will remain present on this occasion to encourage/entertain the participants.

According to Additional police commissioner(range-2) S.M.Katara, Shri Modi will flag off 10 km Surtilala Masti Run.

There will be total 21 entertainment performances on route of marathon event.

The first event ‘on1 km Spirit of Surat run’ will kick off at the ground located opposite Maniba party plot at 4.30 pm. The main event of 42 km full marathon(in two rounds) will be flagged off at 9.30 pm while marathon will be flagged off at 9.45 pm.

Medical care will be provided at every one km distance. There are over 20,000 participants registered for the event.

Fund collected through the event will be used for traffic management, Surat CCTV project, Cancer awareness and green and clean Surat.

There are prizes worth Rs. 22.68 lakh this time in international, national, gents, ladies, senior citizen etc categories. Marathon, half marathon and 10 km race winners will be given medal while others will get certificate after 72 hours.

Half marathon route will cover Maniba party plot – Magdalla Palsana highway – VIP road – Maharana pratap road – Udhna Magdalla cross roads – Rahul Raj Mall – Surat-Dumas road – Chaupaty – Rahul Raj mall – Udhna Magdalla char rasta – Maharana pratap marg – VIP road – Maniba party plot route. Full marathon route will be same as narrated above, but twice.
