For third time in the last one month, budget carrier SpiceJet has slashed its fares. This time fares are reduced by up to a whopping 75% off on base fare plus fuel surcharge.

But wait, upto 75% discount does not mean flat 75% discount. ‘Upto’ means, highest discount to be given under this offer in certain cases will be 75%.

Then the 75% discount is relative to last minute fares. Last minute fares are fares booked 7 days prior to departure. Such fares are anyway high.

We compared Spicejet and Indigo fares for several dates between April beginning and June end on Ahmedabad-Mumbai, Ahmedabad-Delhi and other routes and confirmed there’s no actual discount.

The scheme is effective for travel between April 1 and June 30, 2014. The bookings under the ‘Super Summer Sale’ offer will remain open till Wednesday mid-night.
