Jharkhand handover management of Jharkhand State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Ltd. to NDDB

At the request of the Government of Jharkhand, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) has agreed to manage the Jharkhand State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation Ltd for a period of five years. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to this effect on 1st March 2014 at Ranchi between the Government of Jharkhand and NDDB.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Shri Jairam Ramesh, Minister of Rural Development, Government of India, Shri Mannan Mallick, Minister of Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, Government of Jharkhand, Shri Dilip Rath, Managing Director, NDDB, Shri Sangram Chaudhary, Executive Director, NDDB, Shri Aditya Swaroop, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, Government of Jharkhand and other senior officials of Government of Jharkhand.

Speaking on the occasion the Union Minister for Rural Development lauded the role of NDDB in the development of dairy activities in the country for the growth of rural economy and appreciated NDDB’s gesture to take over the management of dairy activities in Jharkhand. The Union Minister highlighted NDDB’s role in Operation Flood, which has resulted in India becoming the world’s largest milk producing nation. He also stated that the signing of the MoU will start a new era in the history of Jharkhand’s dairy development.

Shri Dilip Rath, MD, NDDB said, “Recognising the role of dairying in sustaining livelihoods of rural milk producers in Jharkhand, NDDB has agreed to work closely with the Government of Jharkhand”.
