Rahul Gandhi to address rally at Balashhinor, visit salt workers at Kharaghoda

Ahmedabad, 10 March 2014

Gujarat Congress president Shri Arjun Modhwadia today shared the details of Congress party’s national vice president and undeclared PM candidate Rahul Gandhi’s tomorrow’s visit to Gujarat.

Shri Modhwadia said that Rahul Gandhi will address a public rally in Balashinor at 12.30 pm. He will later move to Kharaghoda in Surendranagar district to speak to salt workers at 3.00 pm.

Modhwadia said the rally will be historic same as last rally of Rahul at Bardoli last month.

Author’s note:

Rahul’s last rally in Gujarat was at Bardoli in south Gujarat. Congress has two sitting MPs(Bardoli and Valsad) in south Gujarat. Rahul rally was held to impact these two seats.

Rahul’s 11 March rally has been organized in central Gujarat region. Congress has three sitting MPs(Kheda, Anand and Dahod) in central Gujarat region. Congress wins Anand seat due to strong candidate Bharatsinh Solanki. Congress has given ticket to Solanki this time too. Party is not likely to retain Kheda seat this time. Last time Congress won Kheda seat with narrow margin, but that due to some personal clout of Dinsha Patel who doesn’t want to contest this time. The other seat is Dahod where BJP has to choose strong local candidate to defeat present MP Dr. Prabhaben Taviyad. Congress also wishes to win Panchmahal seat which it lost with narrow margin last time. Congress is also eying Chhota Udepur seat where its candidate Naran Rathwan wins every alternate time.

Rahul’s visit to Surendranagar district based salt workers targets impact areas of Surendranagar and Rajkot seats that are with Congress at present.
