Five political parties form ‘Progressive Forum’ in Gujarat

Gujarat units of Janata Dal (United), Samajwadi Party (SP), Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM), Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Socialist Party have jointly formed ‘Progressive Forum’, to contest elections from 11 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat with their common 16-point election manifesto.
According to Arun Mehta of the CPI(M) and Govind Jadhav, Vice President of the state JD(U) unit, one of the things in manifesto is implementation of schedule 5 and 6 of the constitution in Gujarat to form autonomous councils in tribal areas.
