“I was offered to contest from Raebareli seat against Congress president Sonia Gandhi, but I turned down the offer as it came too late. If I was asked in January, I could say yes,” BJP leader Dr. Subramanian Swamy told media persons in Ahmedabad. Dr. Swamy was replying a question in a press conference held at Ahmedabad’s Rifle Club today.

Dr. Swamy added that party has given him a task to take care of strategic affairs.He further said he can contest in future a by-election or Rajya Sabha poll.

When asked about BJP’s manifesto, Dr. Swamy said the manifesto is yet to be declared just because of the reason that there was a discussion going on, whether the manifesto should be a ten page document, or seventy page document. Dr. Swamy further said, last December Narendra Modi in his Ramlila Ground speech during Rashtriya Parishad said the party will fight election on five specific issues. These five issues should be considered as manifesto. Part manifestos are important for university professors, not for general people. People don’t read manifestos, they chant “Modi Modi”. They want Modi to win. Congress manifesto is out, how many cared to read it?

When asked to speak on Sonia Gandhi, Swamy assigned a job to media persons to question Sonia Gandhi when next time she visits Ahmedabad, what she was doing during 1963-68. Swamy said Sonia’s father was Hitler’s soldier who was jailed for some time. While other Hitler army-men were not released for twenty years, Sonia’s father was released in four years because he was ready to work for KGB. Swamy refused further discussion on Sonia. He said he had to speak on Sonia in this press meet today because she submitted fake certificate. Swamy said if Rahul mentions wrong details in his nomination form he would file case against him. Rahul had earlier submitted fake detail that he has passed college from Cambridge. When checked with Cambridge later on, this detail was proved false. If he continues to submit fake detail again this time while filling nomination, he will face a case.

Dr. Swamy said he had no problem with Congress party, but just with Nehru-Gandhi family.
