Modi gives target of 28 seats to party cadre in Gujarat, says Congress will not cross double digit in any state

Gandhinagar, 5 April 2014

Following is near perfect verbatim of Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP prime ministerial candidate Shri Narendra Modi’s Hindi speech at Nabhoi near Koba in Gandhinagar today afternoon in presence of Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat candidate Shri LK Advani.

Whatever maximum we can do for Advaniji is less. Whatever we can do for this generation that took party to this stage is less. We are fortunate to have an opportunity to serve not only Bharatiya Janata Party and Bharat Mata but also Shri Advaniji through this election.

I have full faith on party workers. They will employ even more strength, attract more votes and ensure more voting to make BJP victorious not only in Gandhinagar but in entire Gujarat. And Advaniji is also reminding us to think about not just 26 but 28 seats. Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman Selvas seats have presence of Gujarati speaking people. So it is obvious that we have to win not 26 but 28 seats. We have some assembly by-elections also happening. I have full faith that in these elections there will be many states, where perhaps for the first time after independence where not a single Congress candidate will win.

In entire elections, in all over India there will not be a single state where Congress will cross double digit. Congress is not likely to reach the figure of ten when it comes to number of seats.

The tempo visible in public suggests that Congress will face even worse defeat compared to emergency this time.

As Advaniji said, there are very few elections and perhaps it is for the first time that results are declared even before the elections. Such thing happens rarely.

We wish the nation has to be made Congress-free, problem-free, corruption-free, inflation-free, unemployment-free. But I am not happy by just winning a Lok Sabha seat. Because basically I am a man of organization. Due to some special circumstances, my track was changed and I was put in electoral politics. Basically I had left my home for organization. I am basically a man of organization. And I think, I live around organization.

So, number of seats we win will surely give us admiration globally, but I want to give an attempt for winning maximum number of polling booths. Amid falsehoods and obstructions we need to focus on polling booth. None can stop our victory if a small party worker sticks to polling booth.

Another important thing. To face an election in May is a biggest challenge. There’s vacation period, everyone is in mood to visit Kulu Manali. Wedding season is also there and heat is not less than 45 degree. And at such time it is not just worship of BJP but it is worship of democracy to ensure maximum voting.

Recently media, NGOs and even election commission is trying its best to ensure maximum voting. All are playing their good role.

I have faith, I am seeing the atmosphere in entire country. I was yesterday in Odisha, and today I am going to Madhya Pradesh. Normally in Odisha, BJP is minor party for last many years. We haven’t been able to do much there. This time it’s surprising for me. Yesterday I visited Rourkela to address a public meeting. I visited the place earlier too to address a public meeting, and there were around 300 people at that time. This time they organized Rourkela public meeting 8 kms away from Rourkela in an open ground. I asked how come you dared to hold public meeting on such a big open ground? We don’t dare even in Gujarat. And it was unimaginable scene for me there! I was just shocked! This time, east and south too will vote for BJP.

Congress will get the worst defeat in its history this time. And Advaniji is correct, these elections are fought not by political party or candidates, this time the people of India are contesting the elections.
