Ahmedabad, 8 April 2014
Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday declared party worker Sunil Digamber Kulkarni as its candidate from the Vadodara constituency. Kulkarni will be pitted against BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Congress’s Madhusudan Mistry.
Kulkarni, who is 41 years of age, is a mechanical engineer. He has been associated with AAP right from its inception.
Born in Nasik on 10 March 1973, Kulkarni is son of govt servant employed in Currency press, Nasik. Kulkarni is Mechanical engineer who owns his own infrastructure building and Information Technology business. He is Chairman and MD of M/S Ask Infracon Projects Pvt. Ltd and ASK Softec Pvt Ltd. He has participated in Koumi Ekta movement at Vadodara since 2008 according to AAP release.
Narendra Modi is fighting the Lok Sabha polls from two seats; Vadodara and Varanasi. While AAP has decided to field Kulkarni against Modi in Vadodara, party chief Kejriwal is fighting against the BJP PM candidate in Varanasi.
Author’s note:
AAP is sinking ship nationally at this point. It has no significant presence in any of 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat in these elections. AAP candidates will get most votes through their personal influence. Like many other seats, on Vadodara seat too, the Election commission will earn more deposit money.
