Ahmedabad, 17 April 2014

In a unique initiative, ground handling staffs at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport have decided to join the cast your vote awareness campaign, especially to stimulate the flying class citizens of the country.

As part of the campaign, more than 100 employees of Men Managers, a sister organization of JetSkies Flying Solutions Pvt. Ltd. which include the entire services staff will be donning a badge with a bold message “Cast Your Vote”! while handling both non-scheduled and scheduled airlines.

At Ahmedabad airport, more than 10,000 passengers fly in and out of the city on a daily basis from domestic and international flights.

Rubin Philip, Director of Jet Skies, said, “Our idea is to encourage citizen to participate in the electoral process and exercise their votes on the Election Day in their respective constituency. We believe voting is a national duty and this effort is towards that goal only.”

In past, the turnout from urban voters has not been encouraging. According to Election Commission of India, during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, in the 57 urban constituencies the turnout was only 51.5 per cent, while in 144 semi-urban constituencies it was only 61.2 per cent.

Ahmedabad Airport Authority and the leading airlines housed at Ahmedabad airport has endorsed the initiative for election awareness and to mobilize urban voters to play their important part in deciding the future of country.
