Ahmedabad, 19 April 2014
Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Shri Narendra Modi addressed as many as 76 public rallies ahead of the Lok Sabha general elections in year 2009 in Gujarat. However this year he has not addressed even a single campaign rally in Gujarat so far.
Gujarat is going to witness polling on 30th of April. But before that on 24 April 117 Lok Sabha seats in nine other states are going to witness elections. Shri Modi’s focus till 23/24 April is on these 117 seats. Later he is likely to start campaign in Gujarat.
In year 2009 Lok Sabha general elections, the date of polling in Gujarat was same – 30th of April and Modi had started his Gujarat campaign from 14 April, Ambedkar jayanti. This year he is a prime ministerial candidate, and he has much to do across the nation. Therefore his Gujarat campaign is around 10 days late compared to 2009. Modi has of course addressed several 3D rallies in Gujarat so far, but his physical presence will have greater impact.
