Fire in multi-storey building in Surat, casualty reported

Fire broke out in Landmark building at Kadodara highway in Surat on Wednesday evening. The building is commercial building. Fire broke out due to faulty welding process on 10th floor. At least one persons is dead due to this tragic incident, while at least five people are taken to hospital for treatment. Surat Fire Brigade has declared brigade call, and as many as 25 fire fighters are on the spot. Fire brigade is facing problem in rescue due to smoke that is all over from ground floor to top floor. According to reports, several people jumped from top to save their life following suffocation.

State Revenue department has issued following statement:

-Textile market in Landmark building suffered massive fire at 5.45 pm.
-Municipal Commissioner, district collector and other senior officers rushed to the place as soon as they were informed about the incident.
-Municipal Corporation’s Chief Fire officer and other officials rushed to the spot.
-As per the initial details available from the district administration, fire brigade team has rescued 138 persons.
– 15 persons are taken to hospital for treatment.
– 2 of them are having serious head injuries.
-2 persons are suffering from fracture.
-One person Rameshwar Prasad(45) is dead.
-Chief Minister has received details from Chief Secretary. Chief Minister has given instruction to rescue the people.
-Rescue mission was carried out on war foot basis.
-Administration is active. Relief Commissioner, Secretary Revenue, Surat district collector, Municipal commissioner are in communication.
