7 persons were injured in Rajkot’s Topkhana area in following a clash that triggered following attack on convenience store owner by goons for not giving grocery for free. The incident happened a few days back. Hundreds of shop owners are observing bandh today in protest.

In recent years, law and order situation has deteriorated in Rajkot. Police Commissioners keep changing, but there’s no relief from murders, loot, kidnapping, attacks, dadagiri, lukhkhagiri and other crime incidents. The situation became worst during Geetha Johri’s tenure as Rajkot Police Commissioner. The situation never recovered after her exit and appointment of other Police Commissioners.

Today, about 700 businessmen/traders are observing bandh against gundaism that has crossed all limits. Prominent local businessmen Karsanbhai Vaghela, Amubhai Jhala, Mukesh Parmar, Radhakishan Ahuja, Dilipbhai Asvani, Maganbhai Chudasama, Sunil Tevani etc are participating in the bandh call.

The traders say, goons went to Royal Food shop in Sindhi colony and asked local store owner to give grocery for free. When denied, they ransacked the shop. Rajkot’s Hansrajnagar, Parsananagar, Sindhi colon, Railnagar, Popatpara, Krushnapara, Valmikivadi, Topkhana, Slum quarters etc areas are observing bandh today.Police has arrested one Bipin Govindbhai Jhala in this case.
