Surat Chief Fire Officer removed from job

Surat Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee has dismissed Chief Fire Officer Pankaj Patel for corruption, fake certificate, foreign tour without permission and lethargy in job during Orchid tower fire incident.
Patel was caught selling Fire safety equipments from Fire brigade staff quarters and getting commission through such activity. It was revealed that Patel was earlier working in Reliance and he had produced fake certificate. It was also discussed that Patel had foreign tour without permission. During the incident of fire in Orchid tower in Surat, Patel used only one hydraulic platform when actually there were six. This resulted into slow pace of control over fire.
