A singer form very poor dalit family of Patan district. He was in love with daughter of local MLA of Thakor community. He as well as his family members were beaten and he had to leave village. His father said at that time that the love story was known to village and then it would be known to entire Gujarat. This happened in real fact. Most of his song are based on his real love story. I always salute late Shri Mani Raj Barot. I can not understand how a talented natural singer can die at early age of about 50. I suspect something wrong. One story I have heard. some time earlier to his death, he was behind bar in diu in liquer case. This is tragedy. I doubt that some interested persons had played mischief in untimely death. He was from DALIT community and some upper caste singers were al the time behind him. Now more than 5 years had been passed. As on date his daughter is good gujarati folk singer. She should be careful in politics of sining profession. I wish here success in life.
