Vadodara’s Khalil Dhantejvi with his ghazals(Gujarati mp3)

Vadodara(Baroda) based poet Khalil Dhantejvi is well known for his Gujarati and Urdu poetries. He read his selected Ghazals in a ‘mushayra’ organized by Gujarat Samachar( ગુજરાત સમાચાર )trust and INT in Ahmedabad. In this program, in company of some 8 chosen poets across Gujarat, audience and stage both were rocking and were in hilarious mood. ‘Once more’ sounds were routine. Listeners did not allow break in the program and stretched the duration of program by making loud requests again and again everytime when program was declared finished. ‘Gujarat Samachar- INT Mushayra’ was a memorable program like it always uses to be every year.Poets who participated in this event were Makrand Musale, Mukesh Joshi, Kishor Chauhan, Raish maniyar, Saumya Joshi, Ankit trivedi, Rajesh Vyas(Miskin) and Khalil Dhantejvi.

સવાલો આપ-લે કરી લઇએ, જવાબો મેળવી લઇએ,
તમારી ડાયરી, મારી કિતાબો મેળવી લઇએ.
તમારા સ્મિત સામે રોકડા આંસુ મેં ચૂકવ્યાં છે,
છતાં જો હોય શંકા તો હિસાબો મેળવી લઇએ.
કોલાહલોના શહેરમાં કલરવ નહીં મળે,
મીઠી મધૂરી વાણીનો વૈભવ નહીં મળે.
જે કાંઇ થઇ શકે તે કરી લે આ જનમમાં,
આનાથી રૂડો બીજો અવસર નહીં મળે.
સચવાય તો ખમીશની બાંયો બચાવી રાખ,
આંસુઓ લૂછવા અહિ પાલવ નહીં મળે.

આંખમાં છો ને ભીની ઝલક ઊઘડે,
મેઘ વરસી પડે તો ફલક ઊઘડે.
ગાલ પર કોઈ શમણાનું પીંછુ ફરે,
પોપચાં થરથરે ને પલક ઊઘડે.
રોજ લાગે કોઈ યાદ કરતું હશે,
રોજ છાતીમાં ઝીણી સલક ઊઘડે.
પારકા દેશમાં તારી યાદ આવતાં,
ઘર તો ઘર, આખેઆખો મલક ઊઘડે.
છો ખલીલ ! આજ મન થોડું હળવું થતું,
આંખમાં છોને ભીની ઝલક ઊઘડે.

This is infect the first song of Shri Jagjit singh’s famous gazal album ‘Cry’.
Great gazal singer Jagjit singh often sings gazals written by Khalil dhantejvi.
Jagjit singh sometime gives a phone call and demand gazal for certain situation. This is what Khaleel saahb or Jagjitsinghji mentioned in public.

-Khaleel Dhantejvi’s real name is Makrani Khaleel ismael
-He born in Dhantej village near Vadodara and thus his surname as a poet eventually emerged as Dhantejvi.
-Khaleel Dhantejvi’s birth date is 12th of December 1939
-He has studied up to 4th class of school.
-Khelil saahab has written numerous novels. Some of his earliest novels were Dr. Rekha(1974), Suvaalo dankh, Kori kori bheenash, Tarasya ekaant, Maut malke meethu meethu etc.

Khalil Shaheb is here with me in the UK as hour guest and each Mushaira he’s performed in has had a tremendous impact on the listeners. He is a great man and a feel he’s not appreciated enough.
