Morari bapu was in his own style when delivering a speech at the function organized by ‘Gujarat Stri Kelavani mandal’. Program was organized to felicitate some legend women social workers of Gujarat. Dang district’s ‘didi’ Purnimabehan pakwasa was one of the ladies facilitated.

Some facts I would like to share about Moraribapu at DeshGujarat
-Moraribapu’s grandfather Shri Tribhuvandasji was scholar of Ramayan. Everyday he used to give discourse on three chopai of Ramayan to Moraribapu in his childhood. Moraribapu’s school was three kilometers away and while walking to his school, Moraribapu used to utter and remember chopai. This was continued for three years.
-Moraribapu passed SSC exam at forth trial. Then he went to Shapur(Vanthali) for a training to become school-teacher. He passed Junior PTC here after three trials.
-Moraribapu worked in a primary school as a teacher. His sallery was 127 Rs. Monthly. After he became busier in Ram katha he left his job.
-Moraribapu started his katha at the age of 14. He also used to deliver ‘Akhyan’ on the occasion of Navratri in Mahua at that time.
-Moraribapu’s first Katha happened in Talgajarda(Mahua taluko, Bhavnagar, Gujarat) for one month. This continued for five years, every night. Most visitors were common rural farmers.
-Moraribapu’s nine days katha started from Gaathilaa village, on the bank of Ozat River(Saurashtra-Gujarat) in 1966. It was organized at Maharaj Ramkuldasji’s ashram.
-on foreign land Moraribapu’s first katha was organized in Nairobi. After that Nepal, Shrilanka, Tanzania, South Africa, Zambia, New Zealand, Singapore, Canada, U.K. and U.S.A are other nations who has witnessed Moraribapu’s Ramkatha.
-First live telecast of Ramkatha on television through satellite happened in 1994 at Moraribapu’s katha at London. Now almost every single katha is telecasted live on Astha channel.
-In 1990s Moraribapu delivered his katha in a stemmer ‘kunard princes’. This katha was named as ‘Setubandh’
-In 1992 Moraribapu performed ‘Vignyan(science) parikrama’ around U.N. building and White House.
-In 1994 Moraribapu delivered ‘Pushpak katha’ in a flight. 250 people participated in this Katha. Flight started from New York and flew through Los Angeles, Honolulu, Fiji, Auckland, Singapore, Mumbai, Nairobi, London and Toronto.
-In 2001 Moraribapu delivered katha in Mansarvovar and Nepal’s Bushandi sarovar. It was minus 14 degree temperature there and katha went on everyday for 4 hours.
-Moraribapu’s around 500 katha are recorded in video and are available in DVD. Since 2001 his katha are available in books also.
-Moraribapu has five brothers and three sisters( one sister has passed away). Moraribapu is elder most brother among all. His second brother Kishorbapu works in Savarkundla’s electricity department. Third brother Chetanbapu is teacher in Bhavnagar. Devabapu, Jagubapu, Jankidas his other three brothers. They live in Talgajarda-Mahua with Moraribapu. Devabapu looks after Kailash Gurukul. Kailash Gurukul is an institute where 100 children live and reside free of cost for education.
-Moraribapu has three daughters and a son; Bhavna, Prasanna, Shobhana and Parth. Moraribapu selected Dharmesh Modi as his son in law who was regular visitor of Ramkatha alongwith his family before Moraribapu selected him as a son in law. Moraribapu’s daughter Shobhna is married with Dharmeshbhai.
-Moraribapu’s son Parth is seen in his many katha. He sings well.It’s not yet confirm whether he will also be a kathakaar like his father or not.
-Moraribapu belongs to Vaishnav Nibark tradition. Pioneer of this tradition was ‘Hans Bhagvan’ and Moraribapu is 53rd after him.
-Moraribapu drinks only Gaga River’s water (Gangajal). Even his lunch and dinner is cooked in Gangajal.
-Moraribapu had to leave his katha in-between at two occasions: Once when his father was suddenly unwell and ill, Moraribapu had to leave his Janakpur based katha. After sometime Moraribapu paid back Janakpur restarting katha there from day one.At another instance, when Moraribapu’s brother Jankidas faced heart disease Moraribapu had to leave his Bhagalpur based katha in-between.

Yesterday I accidently found link to ths web page. After seeing one video by Ashvin Joshi “Ma Bap Ne Bhulso Nahi” was a real eye opener.
