While very risky self managed traffic is going on at this cross roads in Ahmedabad, traffic police men are standing aside without showing any care towards managing, sloving traffic.It’s an evening time and after rest in the afternoon, they are waiting for prospective catch from whom they can fetch money for their own pockets.What such types of traffic policemen bring to the city? Last year’s (2006) death tall on the roads of Ahmedabad city due to vehicular accidents was 35% higher than it’s previous year. Usually Ahmedabad witnesses 160 t0 170 deaths due to road accidents annually but in 2006 Ahmedabad witnessed record-break 246 deaths. Even after introducing compulsory helmet and seatbelt law. Careless driving of people may be one reason for this but in reality, absence of strict-proper system and lethargic traffic police, both are more responsible factors for this.
