સુરતમાં ધારુકાવાળા કોલેજના મેદાનમાં ગુજરાતના પાટીદારોનું વિશાળ સંમેલન યોજાયું.આયોજકોનો દાવો આ સંમેલન પાંચ લાખ પાટીદારોનું હશે એવો હતો પરંતુ સંમેલન બાદ તેમણે બે થી ત્રણ લાખની હાજરીનો દાવો કર્યો છે.ઓફીશીયલી પોલીસ પ્રમાણે આંકડો નેવુ હજારનો હતો.
આ સંમેલનની જે આમંત્રણ પત્રિકા આખા ગુજરાતમં વહેંચાઈ હતી એમાં તો તેનો આશય અને ઉદ્દેશ પંચામૃત સ્વરૂપનો લખેલો હતો.આ પાટીદાર પંચામૃત એટલે સમાજ સંગઠન, શૈક્ષણિક જાગૃતિ, વ્યસનમુક્ત સમાજનું નિર્માણ, સ્ત્રી ભ્રૂણ હત્યા અટકાવવી અને મતદાન જાગૃતિ.
સંમેલનની તૈયારીઓમાં ભાજપના નરેન્દ્ર મોદી વિરોધી ધારાસભ્યો આગળપડતા હતા અને સંમેલનમાં કેશુભાઈ પટેલનું સન્માન થવાની પણ જાહેરાત કરાઈ હતી એટલે દેખીતીજ રીતે આને નરેન્દ્ર મોદી સામેનું શક્તિ પ્રદર્શન માનવામાં આવતુ હતુ.થોડા મહિનાઓમાં ગુજરાતમાં ચૂંટણી આવી રહી છે અને પટેલોના મતો ગુજરાતમાં અતિ નિર્ણાયક ગણાય છે એ જોતા આ સંમેલનનું મહત્વ વધી ગયું હતુ. સંમેલનમા એટલેજ નરેન્દ્ર મોદીની તરફેણ કરવાવાળા પટેલ અગ્રણીઓ સિવાય સહુ કોઈ ઉપસ્થિત હતા.
જ્યારે નરેન્દ્ર મોદી વિરોધી હોય એવા પટેલ સિવાયના અગ્રણીઓ પણ ઉપસ્થિત હતા જેમકે કોળી સમાજના પ્રમુખ સી.કે.પીઠાવાલા, સુરેન્દ્રનગરના ભાજપના કોળી સાંસદ સોમાભાઈ ગાંડાભાઈ પટેલ, વડોદરાના મોદી વિરોધી ધારાસભ્ય નલિન ભટ્ટ ભલે પટેલ ન હોય પણ મોદીવિરોધી હોવાથી સ્ટેજ પર હતા.
કાર્યક્રમમાં કેશુભાઈ પટેલ આવ્યા નહીં એટલે એમના બદલે એમના દીકરા ભરત પટેલનું સન્માન કરવામાં આવ્યું. કેશુભાઈએ ફોન પરથી જ અમેરિકાથી ટૂંકૂં વક્તવ્ય આપ્યું. કેશુભાઈની આ ગેરહાજર રહેવાના મામલે બહુ જ ટીકાઓ થઈ રહી છે.
સંમેલનમાં સૌરાષ્ટ્રના વિઠ્ઠલ રાદડિયાના ટેકેદારો મોદી હાય હાય લખેલા પ્લે કાર્ડ લઈને આવ્યા હતા પરંતુ પોલીસે તે બહાર મૂકાવી દીધા હતા. એ જ રીતે સંમેલનના એક આયોજક સામે પોલીસે સંમેલન પત્યા પછી દસ વાગ્યા બાદ માઈક કેમ ચાલુ રાખ્યું એવા મામલે કેસ પણ કર્યો છે.
સંમેલનના મુખ્ય આયોજક હાઅ સુરતના હીરા ઉદ્યોગના બે અગ્રણીઓ જીવરાજભાઈ ધારુકાવાળા અને વસંત ગજેરા. વસંત ગજેરા એ ભાજપના સુરતના કટ્ટ્ર મોદી વિરોધી ધારાસભ્ય ધીરુ ગજેરાના ભાઈ છે.
કાર્યક્રમમાં હાજર પટેલ અગ્રણીઓની યાદી આ મુજબ છે:

સંમેલન મા સારી વાતો તો છે જ.સમાજ સુધાર ની વાતો ,લોક જાગ્રુતિ ની વાતો પણ છે.તેમ છતા ઘણા અંશે એવુ લાગે છે કે સંપુર્ણ રાજકીય હતુ.
ચુંટણિ ટાણે જ કેમ સમાજ યાદ આવે છે? શુ ચુંટણિ પેલા લોકો ને શિક્ષણનાં મહત્વની જરુર ન હતી?
જયારે NO REPEAT THEORY (ટિકિટ ના મળવા)નો ભય આ કહેવાતા અગ્રણિ ઓ ને આવ્યો ત્યારે સમાજ યાદ આવ્યો.
ખરેખર તો વિકાસ ની આ ભાગિદારી માં સમાજ સિમિત માનસિકતા લોકો માં ના ફેલાવી જોઇએ.જો તમને ખરેખર એવુ લાગતુ હોય તો કાઠિયાવાડ ના દરેક ગામ માં મફત છોકરાઓ ભણિ શકે એ માટે શાળાઓ બાંધો/ શિશ્યવ્રુતિ આપો ને.કરોડો-અબજો પતિ છે જ આપણા સમાજ માં.

There are some questions in my mind after listening to this episode:
1. Why Narendra Modi can not keep all the sections of society with him ? Why is he so arrogant ?
2. Why does not he react or come forward and say something on the issues such as Patidar
sammelan, fanaa issue etc. He is most of the time mum and does not interact much with
media. I think he wil pay for this in next election.
3. Will Modi be able to win next election making all the sections of society unhappy ?
4. Does he know that alongwith him he will also destroy bjp in Gujarat ?
Now some questions for Patidars
1. Such sammelan really serve any purpose ?
2. Counting the figure of votes isn’t really a childish activity ? How much ghanchi modis are
there in Gujarat ? But Modi a ghanchi modi cast man has ruled for the longest in Gujarat
and is still ruling. Do people vote and prefer their leader on the bases of cast at all ?
3. Leader like Pravin Togadiya who claims that he is a leader of all the Hindus, why he was
a part of such a sectional sammelan ?
4. Why Bhaikaka Patel was not remembered at this sammelan ? He was second greatest
leader Gujarat got from Patel community after Sardar Patel.
5. Was this sammelan a stage drama to support some Patel mla who are anyway going to loose their ticket from bjp because they are anti Modi ?

This was truely anti modi convention. Becasue as you have said koli members disident mla from other casts were on stage. in a photograph i can see how many people there. can see headdots and these dots make a picture and definately not good picture for modi. elections are near.

પટેલ સંમેલન યોજાયું અને એમાં આટલા બધા(ઉપર ફોટામાં દેખાય છે એટલા)આવ્યા એ આયોજકોની સફળતા છે પણ એના માટે પટેલોને પાંચ માર્ક આપીએ તો સામે નરેન્દ્રભાઈને તો દસ માર્ક આપવા પડે કારણકે નરેન્દ્રભાઈ આ સંમેલનમાં કેશુભાઈ ના આવે એનો ખેલ સફળતાપૂર્વક પાડી શક્યા અને આખા સંમેલનમાં એમની વિરૂદ્ધ ભાજપના પટેલો તો ઠીક પણ કોંગ્રેસના પટેલો પણ કશું જ બોલી ન શક્યા.

How can we say that this crowd is full of anti modi heads. I am agree that on the stage of this function there may be each and everyone who is anti modi but this crowd may or may not turn against modi at the time of voting in next election. Who knows ?

I don’t understand as to where this Patel caste emerged from? The word Patel was never used to describe a caste. In South Gujarat 80% of the people with last name Patel are not Patidars/Kunbi. In South Gujarat there are Koli Patels, Muslim Patels, Dhodia Patel etc. and except Bardoli area Kolis outnumber Kunbis. I find it bit surprising that word Patel is being hijacked to describe a particular caste.
