After long period of humid and semi-coudy atmosphere rains lash parts of Guajarat including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Narmada district, Valsad, Jamnagar, Junagadh and Kutch.
In Ahmedabad whole day went under light cloudy sky but in the evening black clouds paraded the sky and heavy rain was experienced. Reports are coming in that two persons were dead due to heavy rain in Vadodara and Narmada districts.
It should be noted that there there was just 51 per cent of water in dams in the state before third round of rain started. According to official data, there is only half the water that was in the dams last year. The state is running an over 18 per cent deficit in average rainfall. Of the 193 dams, only 20 are full, 16 dams have water between 80-90 per cent while the remaining 157 dams have below 70 per cent of water as against their capacity. Of these 157 dams, there are 71 dams that have less then 20 per cent of water. Dantiwada dam has just 9.52 per cent water, while Machu-II has just got 13 per cent water of its storage capacity.
Hopefully third round of showers may make difference to this situation.
