અમદાવાદના મણિનગર વિસ્તારનો આ કિસ્સો છે. ચુસ્ત હિંદુ પરિવારની દીકરીના લગ્ન તેની જ્ઞાતિના જ હિંદુ છોકરા સાથે થયા. શરૂઆતમાં તો બધુ ઠીક ચાલ્યુ પરંતુ પછી હિંદુ છોકરો એના ખ્રિસ્તી મિત્રોના કહેવાથી એક દિવસ મિશનરી ચર્ચમાં ગયો. આ પછી તો છોકરો ચર્ચની લતે ચડ્યો. રવિવારે ભલભલા કામ છોડીને પણ એ ચર્ચમાં જાય. ધીરે ધીરે એ સંપૂર્ણપણે કટ્ટર ખ્રિસ્તિ બની ગયો. વાતો પણ બાઈબલની કરે, ચર્ચા પણ એની કરે, ખ્રિસ્તિ ધર્મના ગુણગાન ગાય. કામકાજમાં પણ એનું ધ્યાન ઓછુ થવા લાગ્યુ. પત્નીને પણે એ દબાણ કરવા લાગ્યો કે તેણી ખ્રિસ્તિ ધર્મ અંગીકાર કરી લે. પત્ની ચુસ્ત હિંદુ બાઈ હોવાથી તેણીએ આનો ધરાર ઈનકાર કર્યો. પતિએ ઘરમાં મંદિર-પૂજા બધુ બંધ કરાવ્યુ. પત્ની દરરોજ રડ્યા કરે. છેવટે તો પતિએ એટલે સુધી કહ્યુ કે ક્યાં ખ્રિસ્તિ બન ક્યાં જતી રહે ઘરમાંથી.આ પિડિત પત્ની એના પિતા અને અન્ય સગાઓ સાથે પત્રકારો સમક્ષ એની કથની રજૂ કરવા આવી હતી.
લગભગ ૧૯૯૯ની સાલમાં અમદાવાદમાં જુનાગઢથી મા બાપનો એકનો એક દીકરો ઈસરોમાં એન્જીનીયરીંગની ટ્રેનીંગ લેવા આવ્યો હતો. એના અમદાવાદના ઈસરો નજીકના જ ભાડે ઘર નજીક ચાલતી ખ્રિસ્તી મિશનરીમાં એ જતો થઈ ગયો. અને એટલી હદે ખ્રિસ્તિ બની ગયો કે મા બાપ, એન્જીનીયરીંગ છોડીને મિશનરીના કામ માટે એટલેકે અન્યોને વટલાવવા માટે ધર્મપ્રચારક બની ગયો. મા બાપે પોલીસ કેસ કર્યો. પણ દીકરો પુખ્ત વયનો હોવાથી પોલીસ કશું જ કરી શકે એમ ન હતી.
આખા દેશ અને દુનિયાની માફક ગુજરાતમાં પણ જબરજસ્ત વટલાવ પ્રવૃત્તિ ચાલી રહી છે. મારા અંદાજે મહિનાના ત્રણ આંકડામાં હિંદુઓ ખ્રિસ્તિ બની રહ્યા છે. ઓરિસ્સામાં હમણા ક્રિસમસ ટાણે ખ્રિસ્તિ ચર્ચો પર હુમલા થયા. અંગ્રેજી મિડિયાને પાછી હિંદુઓની ભત્સણા કરવાનો આનંદ હાથ લાગ્યો. ગુજરાતમાં ડાંગમાં પણ કેશુભાઈ પટેલ મુખ્યમંત્રી હતા ત્યારે ક્રિસમસ ટાણે જ ખ્રિસ્તિઓ પર હુમલા થયા હતા. હમણા ક્રિસમસ પહેલા વડોદરાના કવાંટ વિસ્તારમાં આદિવાસીઓએ ખ્રિસ્તિ મિશનરી પર હુમલો કર્યો હતો. ક્રિસમસ ટાણે ખ્રિસ્તિઓ પર હુમલા થાય છે એની બૂમરાણ મચાવતા ફાધરો અને તેમનુ મિડિયા એ જાણવાની તસદી લેતુ નથી કે હુમલા કેમ થાય છે.
હકીકત એ છે કે વર્ષ દરમિયાન વટલાવાયેલા હિંદુઓને મિશનરીઓ બાપ્તિસ્માની વિધિ ક્રિસમસના તેમના પવિત્ર મનાતા દિવસોમાં કરે છે. આ બાપ્તિસ્માની વિધિ એ વિધિ છે કે જેમાં માણસને પાણીમાં ડૂબાડવામાં આવે છે. આ પછી તે પોતાનો જૂનો ધર્મ છોડીને ખ્રિસ્તિ બન્યો કહેવાય છે. નદી, તળાવ જેવા સ્થળોએ મોટી સંખ્યામાં લોકોને ભેગા કરીને બાપ્તિસ્મ અપાય છે. એટલે ધમાલ થાય છે ક્રિસમસના ગાળામાં. બીજુ કે મિડિયા જે ચર્ચો સળગ્યા હોવાની વાતો કરે છે એ કોઈ સિમેન્ટ-ઈંટોના પાકા બાંધેલા ચર્ચો નથી હોતા. આદિવાસી એરિયામાં ઠેકઠેકાણે કાચા છાપરાવાળા કે મોટા મંડપ જેવા ચર્ચો ચાલતા હોય છે જેમાં રવિવારે ભેગા થઈને પ્રાર્થના કરવામાં આવે છે. આને ચર્ચ કહેવાય છે. ગામેગામ વિરોધ થાય એટલે લોકોના નિશાન પર આવા સ્થળો હોય એ સ્વાભાવિક છે.
કવાંટમાં આદિવાસીઓએ ડોન બોસ્કોની મિશનરીની ટીમ પર પથ્થરો માર્યા, ભગાડ્યા, કાર તોડી અને મિશનરીની આંગળીઓ પણ તોડી. આ પછી ગુજરાતના બે અંગ્રેજી અખબારો મિશનરીના વકીલ બની ગયા અને સ્ટોરીઓ લખવાની શરૂ કરી કે હજુ કોઈની ધરપકડ કેમ નથી થઈ? પેલા ફાધર પણ આ માંગણીમાં ભળ્યા. મારુ પૂછવુ એ છે કે ઈસુને શૂળી પર ચડાવ્યા ત્યારે પણ તેમણે આમ કરનારાઓની માફીની માંગણી કરી હતી. આ પાદરીઓ ક્રોસ લગાવીને ફરે છે પણ તેમનામાં આનો ગુણ જરા પણ નથી ? તેઓ શું કરતા હતા તો આદિવાસીઓએ હુમલો કર્યો હતો ? એ વાત કેમ નથી જણાવતુ મિડિયા?
સાઉદી અરેબિયા પયગંબરની ભૂમિ હોવાથી ત્યાંના એરપોર્ટ પર તમે કૃષ્ણની મૂર્તિ લઈને પણ ઉતરી શકતા નથી. ભારત હિંદુ, બૌદ્ધ, જૈન ધર્મની ભૂમિ છે. આપણુ બંધારણ ઘડતી વખતે આપણે ધર્મનિરપેક્ષ હોવાનું સ્વીકાર્યું એટલે દરેકને પોતાની મરજીનો ધર્મ પાળવાની છૂટ મળી ગઈ. પાળવાની છૂટ તો ખરી ફેલાવવાની પણ છૂટ મળી ગઈ. જ્યાં ગાયો નહીં કપાય, જ્યાં ધર્માંતરણ નહીં થઈ શકે એવા આરએસએસની કલ્પનાના હિંદુ રાષ્ટ્રની પ્રતીક્ષા ક્યાં સુધી કરવી પડશે એ પ્રશ્નનો કોઈ ઉત્તર નથી મળતો. એમ લાગે કે હિંદુ રાષ્ટ્રની અહલેક જગાવનારાઓનું શાસન આવ્યું ત્યાં તો ખ્રિસ્તિ ધર્મની રાજધાની રોમ-ઈટાલીની પુત્રીનું શાસન આવી જાય છે.
જ્યાં જ્યાં ખ્રિસ્તિ ધર્માંતરણ ચાલે છે ત્યાં ત્યાં હિંસા થાય છે. ખ્રિસ્તિ ધર્માંતરણ કાયદો અને વ્યવસ્થાની દ્રષ્ટિએ જોખમી પ્રવૃત્તિ છે. સામાજિક રીતે પણ મેં ઉપર મણિનગર અને જુનાગઢના કિસ્સા લખ્યા છે એ પ્રમાણે જોખમી છે.
કેટલીક ચીજો આપણે હિંદુઓએ પણ કરવાની જરૂર છે. આપણા મોટા મંદિરોમાં અઢળક પૈસાનો ચઢાવો ચઢતો હોય છે. મોટા મંદિરોના કિસ્સામાંતો એક એક મંદિરનો ચઢાવો વર્ષનો કરોડો રૂપિયાનો હોય છે. ગુજરાતના અંબાજી, ડાકોર, સોમનાથ, પાલિતાણા, મહુડીના મંદિરના ચઢાવા વિશે તો વિચારો જરા ? રૂપિયા ગણવા માટે સ્ટાફ રાખવો પડે છે. રૂમોને રૂમો ભરાય છે પરચૂરણના સિક્કાથી. લોકો હજારો રૂપિયાના બંડલ તો પહોંચ વગર ચૂપચાપ દાનપેટીમાં સરકાવીને ચાલ્યા જાય છે. આ બધા રૂપિયાનો ઉપયોગ કઈ રીતે થાય છે? મુંબઈના સિદ્ધિવિનાયક મંદિરના ટ્રસ્ટે કાયદો કર્યો હતો કે મંદિરના નિભાવ ખર્ચ બાદ વધતી ચઢાવાની રકમ શૈક્ષણિક સંસ્થાઓમાં આપી શકાય. આ નિયમ હેઠળ કોંગ્રેસ અને એનસીપીના ટ્ર્સ્ટીઓએ મંદિરના ચઢાવાની કરોડો રૂપિયાની રકમ પોતાની પ્રાઈવેટ સેલ્ફ ફાયનાન્સ કોલેજોમાં નાખી દીધી અને લાંબી ગાડીઓમાં ફરતા થઈ ગયા, એશો આરામ વાળા ઠેકાણે પ્રવાસ કરતા થઈ ગયા.આ ઉપયોગ થાય છે આપણા ધાર્મિક ફંડોનો.
આની સામે ખ્રિસ્તિ ધર્મમાં પૈસો ચેનલાઈઝ થાય છે અને વટલાવ પ્રવૃત્તિમાં વપરાય છે. લોકોને વટલાવવા તેમને મફત મેડિકલ સારવાર આપવી પડે, હોસ્ટેલ ઉભી કરવી પડે, સ્કૂલ બનાવવી પડે તો એ બધુ જ થાય છે.
૧૯૯૯માં હું દાહોદ નજીકના જેસાવાડામાં ઠક્કરબાપાના આશ્રમમાં બે દિવસ અને એક રાત રોકાયો હતો. ઠક્કરબાપા પણ વિવેકાનંદ અને ગાંધીની માફક વટાળ પ્રવૃત્તિના વિરોધી હતા. તેમણે પોઝીટીવલી કામ કર્યુ અને જેસાવાડામાં ભારે સંઘર્ષ કરીને આશ્રમશાળા સ્થાપી. આજે જેસાવાડાની આસપાસ ક્યાંય મિશનરી નથી. કારણકે મિશનરીએ જે કર્યુ હોત તે ઠક્કરબાપાએ કરી નાખ્યું.( અને ગુજરાતની બદમાશ કોંગ્રેસે અમદાવાદ મ્યુનિસિપલ કોર્પોરેશનમાં સત્તા આવતા જ મધર ટેરેસાનું પૂતળુ ભદ્ર નજીક સ્થાપી દીધુ. એમને ગુજરાતના પનોતા પુત્ર ઠક્કરબાપાનુ પૂતળુ મૂકવાનુ યાદ ન આવ્યુ? બદમાશ કોંગ્રેસીઓ?)
બાય ધ વે, આ લેખનો અંત એક સુખદ વાતથી કરવો છે. હમણા ડાંગમાં ગુજરાતના ઈતિહાસમાં પ્રથમ વખત ભાજપના યુવાન ડિપ્લોમા એન્જીનીયર હિંદુવાદી વિજય પટેલ ચૂંટાઈ આવ્યા છે. દક્ષિણ ગુજરાતના મિશનરી પ્રભાવિત ડાંગમાં જ્યાં વીસ હજાર આદિવાસીઓ ખ્રિસ્ત થઈ ગયા છે ત્યાં મિશનરીઓ સામે કેટલો આક્રોશ હશે ત્યારે જ તો તેમની કોંગ્રેસ નહી પણ વિશ્વ હિંદુ પરિષદ સમર્થિત ભાજપના ઉમેદવાર ચૂંટાઈ આવ્યા હશે? વિજયભાઈની જીત મહત્વની છે. જાન્યુઆરીમાં વિધાનસભા સત્ર ટાણે વિજયભાઈ ગાંધીનગર આવશે ત્યારે તેમને અભિનંદન આપવા અને મળવા હું ઉત્સુક હઈશ. એ મુલાકાતનુ વર્ણન અહીં ચોક્કસ આપીશ.

Sometime back I was town called Bath, some 100 km west to London, for project purpose.
One day on my way to buy some stationary I came across a stationary store in city centre area of Bath, which was selling all usual stationary stuff.
But my curious eyes found a small poster in one of the corners which said that this store was administered by some christain foundation and anything that will be bought from this store will help the “backwards and Dalits” in India.
Okay, I understand what that “help” stands for. I didn’t buy anything from that store and went ahead in search of another secular stationary store, after walking for 2 km and rejecting two other stationary stores I finally found stationary store which had nothing to do with any christain foundation.
Next day I went back to that christain store and insisted him to let me take small pic of that poster, in guise that I will love to show my fellow Indians how helpful our British counterparts are. I was said strict “No” and told to leave the store.
Thats my personal experience.
I think our religious sects like ISCON and Swaminarayan should take initiatives and make world-class tirths in this tribal areas. That will not only help the economy of that area by attracting tourist and with ancillary services, but will also bring Strong and prosperous Hindutva feeling in those areas.

Not only Grand tirth but activities like schools, hospitals and micro financing are extremely important in tribal areas.

Very good eye opener article. Many times we are moved by such article and think to extend our hand. But question comes about where we can extend our hand. Actually, we should support by TAN, MANN and DHAN. By the way, for NRIs cannot support by TAN being far from motherland. But fortunately, NRIs are able to support by DHAN and MANN. But, in today’s world there are questions of creditability(as JP mentioned in SiddhiVinayak temple trust). JP, why cannot you mention some of such places(as you mentioned in article about Thakkarbapa) where we can support without any worries and we can rest assured about the purpose. PLEASE………………..

Missionaries have totally forgotten their original purpose. I know a colleague of mine, who is a Chinese but grew up in USA– a very sober and a bright engineer. He has been brainwashed in to Christianity. Christian missionaries have focused eastern countries post world war II. Especially after Korean War, they have started converting South Korea systematically. China has officially BANNED conversion to Christianity but even today there are Numbers of organizations in China, funded by missionaries trying and succeeding in converting local Chinese (this I have been told by that innocent Chinese friend of mine, while glorifying success of Christianity).
They have designed their “conversion curriculum” so powerfully to attract “the intellect of the youth”. Just to give you an example if you talk to any converted Christian, he thinks that his religion is the single most “logical” religion on the earth. They would argue that, today they can go and visit the place where Christ was given baptism but would vehemently rule out that there is even a place called “ram Janma bhoomi” or a place in Mathura where lord Krishna was born. To them, those are fictions and characters of Hindu “mythology”.
My recent business trip to Bangalore made me realize what missionaries have done to India. In Bangalore I saw MORE churches than Temples. Specially when I drove by poor slum areas, I have invariably noticed a small church erected in those areas. (Few decades back you would have seen small temples in these types of localities.) We must stop this mass conversion and we need more thakkar-bapas to do that.
I know SwamiNarayan Sampraday is trying its level best. Trust me, I know BAPS workers focusing these areas. (Just to clarify, I am not a swaminarayani but I do go to temples here regularly to get good gujarati food). I know Pandurang Athavale did a great job in uplifting thousands of poor gujaraties around this area. We need more and more organizations like these, actively working in potentially vulnerable areas.
Looks like media has been bought over by missionaries. The task was easy for them as most of the prominent reporters of today’s media are “convent educated”. They already have Christianity all over their subconscious mind.
What we can do:
- Make sure our Children know what is true Hinduism. Try to talk to every young kid you come to know about Hindutwa, the way he can understand. If we can make them understand the best of Hinduism we are securing at least next generation.
- Stand United with fellow Hindus. Let’s stop blaming other Sampradayas for the sake of Hinduism. They might be having their own issues, which we must try to correct – but not by pulling them down.
- Try to create awareness about what is going on with these missionaries. Talk to your friends, your families. You would be surprised that there are a large number of educated people, totally oblivious to this whole conversion propaganda.
- Back up strong governments like Modi’s, who is willing to take right steps in these directions.

I am leaving currently in Colorado State of US. Even here missionary come regularly to apartments to convey message of jesus christ and offers all help wanted. This is even after our polite denial to them.
This shows they are trying to convert all, even in US.

I do agree with the anger of Ashish. This sudo-secularists never miss any opportunity to knock at Hindus and Hinduism. Where will this lead our country? Kshama Virasya Bhushanam !! evu kahevay chhe. But, is there any limit to just wear this Bhushan (ornament) until the species called HINDU is destroyed by such vultures? And I m suprised more when such INTELLIGENT critics happens to be son or daughters of Hindu community. If such people do not know Hindu ideology in its true perspective and spirit, they have no right to abuse our traditions to which they known as mythology. Such attacks become more aggressive when Gujarat is connected with any happening in any manner or way. Why Gujarat? Why my Gujarat? Dont you have other States and UTs or even other countries to find out topics to expose your intellectuls? For God sake, stop this or a day will come when Gujarat will show its real spirit, of course in a democratic way, to answer all such idiots. It is true, that this missionaries are doing this kind of work and they do operate in rural areas of India. But It is not the only ground where they are operating. And it is not only the fathers and nuns who are propagating christianity.
I would like to mention my personal experiance in london.
I was waiting at a bus stop in Wembley central area, which is full of Gujaratis. Even a near by Ealing road is popular as Manek chowk. So during my wait, one old lady, must be about 80+, litterally shivering due to an old age, come to very near, and in a shivering and very low voice told “Gentle man, Can I ask you a question?”. I replied positively, so she asked “What is the meaning of life?”. I did not understand and was confused. I said I am not clear at this time, cause I am thinking something else. Then she start telling me about the Jesus and christianity. And I realize the real motto behind the question.
And this was not a single incidents. I have come across 3 persons in the same area (Pls. note this is a gujarati/Indian dominated area). Also during formal conversation on this topic with one of my punjabi friend and colleauge, he told me the same kind of ppl in his area which is punjabi dominated part in london.
This was really eye opening, as against a common notion that they are targetting only the poor in india. They are also targetting the rich indians, and particularly those upcoming generation who are born here.

Hi JP,
This is really a sensitive issue. Recently I received an email which is 50 pages long pdf document and each have 4-5 lines that describes how big threat Hindu religion has, how government, media and corrupted people are working against Hindu religion backed by foreign support. It was really shocking for any sensitive person.
The solution of this problem is not easy and perhaps to find a solution is also very difficult. There are some good suggestions from Ashish. We have to work on this on individual and collectively and on regularly basis. There are some good hindu organizations working on this and we can involve with them in whatever manner we can. Every organization might have their own strenght and weaknesses but following our faith and ideology and respecting others, we can start devoting our some time on regular basis in any form to directly or indirectly improve the situation. One day in a month or one week in a year can also be a good idea. Atleast we should study our scriptures and get true understanding of them to implement in our life and make other people aware of true religion. If we dont do anything then we would be guilty for the next generation.

Oh boy! JP please dont be mad at me. I know this is not a hinduism site but I can not stop myself from sharing this link with fellow deshgujarat readers. I dont know much about this guy, but what he is saying sounds like music to my ears.
