Animals for adoption at Ahmedabad’s Kankariya Zoo(Video)
Ahmedabad’s famous Kankariya (Kamla Nehru) zoo has started unique adoption project for it’s more than 2000 animals/birds/reptiles. Every animal/bird/reptile has annual price tag for adoption. Adoption price is decided by calculating expenses to look after it including food and salaries of keepers.
Adoption drive has so far good response. Female elephant, python, some birds, white peacock are some species that are already adopted.
Adopted species can not be taken outside. No ownership is transferred. Privilege for a person who adopts species is limited to 8 entry passes annually and a name plate outside the cage.
Income from adoption program will be useful for some development projects for zoo.
અમદાવાદના કાંકરિયા કમલા નહેરૂ ઝુ દ્વારા આ ઝુના બે હજારથી વધુ પ્રાણીઓ/પક્ષીઓ/સરિસૃપોને દત્તક આપવાની યોજના શરૂ કરવામાં આવી છે. આ અનુસાર કોઈ પણ વ્યક્તિ કોઈ પ્રાણીની નક્કી વાર્ષિક કિંમત ચૂકવીને તેને દત્તક લઈ શકે છે. દરેક પ્રાણીની દત્તક આપવા માટેની કિંમત તેની પાછળ થતા વાર્ષિક ખર્ચથી નક્કી થાય છે. જેમ કે તે પ્રાણીને આપવાના થતા ખોરાકનો ખર્ચ, તેની દેખરેખ રાખતા કર્મચારીઓનો પગારનો ખર્ચ.
દત્તક લીધેલા પ્રાણીની માલિકી કાંકરિયા ઝૂની જ રહે છે. પ્રાણીને બહાર લઈ જઈ શકાતુ નથી. માત્ર પાંજરા બહાર દત્તક લેનારની સ્પોન્સરશીપની નેમપ્લેટ જ લાગે છે અને આઠ એન્ટ્રી પાસ મળે છે. અત્યાર સુધી કેટલાક પક્ષીઓ, અજગર, સફેદ મોર અને હાથણી દત્તક આપી શકાઈ છે.
દત્તક પેટે મળનારી રકમ કાંકરિયા ઝૂના ડેવલપમેન્ટ માટે વપરાશે.
